McAlister's Deli Game Summary - Week 8

Team 1 - 72
Team 5 - 50

Indianapolis - Team 5 jumped out to a quick 14-6 lead over Team 1 on Wednesday. They knew a victory today would put them one step closer to securing a playoff spot. Team 1 quickly settled down and regained control of the game behind some timely scoring and passing by Edmound Elzy. Elzy scored 19 points on 9 of 12 shooting, dished out 8 assists while grabbing 8 rebounds. "I had to remind these guys (my teammates) who the Alpha Dog is on this team. When I was gone, people starting thinking they were the man. This is one man show, PERIOD," said Elzy.

Team 5, who shot 2-14 from behind the Arc, dropped to 1-5 on the season. Jason Rost scored 27 points and grabbed 15 rebounds. "He has gotten so much better since last season, said stat keeper Lauren Hyde.

Team 5 will get a 2nd shot at Team 1 tomorrow, but rumors are that Brian Stutzman, Brian Brown and Greg Smith will all miss the game. "You better believe I am going to get mine tomorrow", said Jason McGuinness.

Team 4 - 67
Team 2 - 38

Indianapolis - Andrew Boehner dropped a deep 3 at the end of the first half to cut a Team 4 lead to just 2 points at half 24-22. However, that was the closest Team 2 would get the rest of the game. Team 4 outscored Team 2, 43-16 in the 2nd half and walked away with a convincing 67-38 victory. Team 4 scored 47 of their 67 points in transition. "We just couldn't keep up with the pace. They are just better conditioned that we are", said Rob Laycock. Alan Mowrey was unavailable for comment due to the oxygen mask being administered to him.

"We have 5 people on our team in better shape than anyone on their team, said Spencer Anderson. "To be clear, I'm not one of those 5".

Only 3 players scored for Team 2, Mowrey (20), Catlin (13) and Lande (5). "We need to figure out a better offense than what we are running, said Rob Laycock.
