McAlister's Deli Game Summary - PFOL 5 - Week 2

Team 4 - 52
Team 5 - 44

Indianapolis - Despite starting the game on a 9-2 run and building a 18-4 first half lead, Team 4 had to fend off a comeback from a gritty veteran Team 5 in the 2nd half. Jason McGuiness' Team 5 cut the lead to just 3 points before Brian Brown hit 3 shots in a row to regain control. Team 5 also had several bad defensive mishaps that led to easy baskets for Team 4.

"I just don't know what people were doing out there on defense. Chad Lilly was running around out there like there was no one else on the court", said McGuiness.

Team 4 improves to 2-0 and proves to be the most athletic and deepest team in the league.

Michael Weisberg scored game high 19 points on 57% shooting. Perhaps he heard the pregame prediction by McGuinness that he was going to hold him to under 10 points.

"Please, I haven't been held to 10 points since I was in the 3rd grade", said Weisberg.

Team 4 also learned today that they would most likely be without power forward Sam Elmore for the remainder of the season as he sustained a knee injury during a foot race with Rob Laycock.

Team 4 set an all time PFOL record with 31 fouls in the game.

Team 1 - 54
Team 3 - 48

Indianapolis - Team 1 got their first win of the season Thursday as they held Team 3 to just 37% shooting. Richie Smith and Eric Flatt shot a combined 8-27 from the field including 0-10 from 3 point land.

Edmound Elzy on the other hand started off the game scoring his team's first 10 points by getting to rim whenever he pleased. Elzy scored a game high 25 points on 10-16 shooting.

"We just couldn't get anything going from the outside today", said Eric Flatt.

"How about Eric Flatt stops shooting 3's and passes the ball to me?", said Richie Smith.

Dave Neff missed today's game because of a hair appointment.

**Editors Correction: It was stated in yesterday's post that Edmound Elzy was 0-5 all time on Opening Night. Correction his teams are 2-3 all time on Opening Night games.
