McAlister's Deli Game Summary - Week 4

Baston Jacks 56
Patriot League Bombers 50

The Patriot League Bombers were the preseason favorites to win the PFOL 3 Championship but now they find themselves in the midst of a 2 game losing streak and questions surround their chemistry after Tuesday’s 56-50 loss to Baston Jacks. Baston Jacks who never trailed in the game ran out to a quick 9 point lead in the first quarter. Despite scoring 28 points, PLB star, John Griffin got very few clean looks at the basket. “Every time I touched the ball I had 2-3 guys running at me. They were determined to get me off the 3 point line today”, said Griffin.

Baston Jack got some much added production from Andrew Boehner as he knocked down all 6 shots he took and ended the day with 14 points and 7 rebounds.

John Griffin tied the game at 50-50 with 40 seconds left with an off balanced shot over Boehner. Baston Jacks immediately raced down and scored on an Alan Mowrey layup to put them up for good at 52-50. Pat Sullivan made 4 go-ahead free throws at the end of the game.

“This is a great win for us, it gets us back to 500 and we feel like we are starting to really hit our stride as a team” said, Pat Sullivan. “Oh, and by the way, John can’t guard me in the post”.

3-Peat 66
Forecasted Showers 54

3-Peat continued to prove they are the best team in the PFOL winning decisively over the winless Forecasted Showers 66-54 on Tuesday. Four players scored in double figures for 3-Peat. They also hit a PFOL record ten 3-pointers in the game. Forecasted Showers continues to look for answers as they drop to 0-4 on the season. “I just wish the season was over”, said Captain Edmound Elzy. Scott Higginson suggested that the ball needs to move around more, “I averaged 7 points last year and I haven’t scored a point all season. It’s time to get mine!!”

Jake Vernon has hit 5 three pointers in his last 2 games. Vernon will be looking to break two PFOL records next week:

Record #1: First player in PFOL history to make 5 or more 3 pointers in 3 consecutive games.
Record #2: Most 3 point field goal attempts in a 3 game span. Vernon only needs four 3-point field goal attempts to break the current record of 43 (currently held also by Vernon).
