McAlister's Deli Game Summary - Week 3

A battle of winless teams was the first game on the schedule for week 3. Baston Jacks who have struggled to find their identity as a team took on Forecasted Showers. Aside from not wanting to go 0-3 to start the season, Edmound Elzy and Eric Flatt of Forecasted Showers felt some added pressure as rumors swirled that if they lost, team captain Elzy would blow up the team and start fresh. Eric Flatt and Edmound Elzy have been teammates from the inception of PFOL and have a career winning percentage of just 22%.

Forecasted Showers got off to a fast start on Wednesday running out to an early 12-2 lead. But Baston Jacks fought back to cut the lead down to 1 by halftime. The game was close in the second half as the lead changed hands 11 times. Baston Jacks extended a 1 point lead to 3 points on a layup by Alan Mowrey over Elzy with 21 seconds left. Forecasted Showers didn't score again and lost 46-41.

Edmound Elzy was held to a career low 7 points. Eric Flatt had a strong game with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Baston Jacks were led by Alan Mowrey's 17 points and Jason McGuiness' 10 points. Pat Sullivan scored 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Patriot League Bombers 39


3-Peat took another step towards living up to their team name with a deceive win over a short handed Patriot League Bombers Team. 3-Peat improved to 3-0 on the season as they beat the Patriot League Bombers 50-39. The PLB's were missing 3 of their key players -John Griffin, Graham Neubuger and Thorpe Miller all missed the game.

"A win's a win. All I know is we are 3-0. I am sure it would have been a slightly closer game if those 3 had played, but we still would have won", said Jake Vernon. Vernon knocked down five 3 pointers on 5 of 31 shooting and ended up with 15 points.

Kyle Krol took home player of the week honors by scoring 16 points, grabbed 8 boards and had 4 steals.

"Kyle has really benefited from my leadership on the court. That's what great players do, they make their teammates better", said Vernon.

When asked to comment, Krol some-what agreed . "I would have never been able to grab 8 rebounds if he wasn't throwing up bricks all game", so I guess he's kinda right.
