PFOL shortens season and extends playoffs

March 1st, 2010

INDIANAPOLIS - The PFOL announced today that the regular season has been condensed to 6 weeks in order to accommodate the growing demand for a 3 game playoff series. The new schedule was released to all 4 teams early Monday. Tomorrow's games will be the last of the regular season and the playoffs will begin next week.

Playoff match ups have not yet been decided. Each of the Tuesday's games have major playoff implications with the most important game being the Team 4 vs Team 3 match up. If Team 4 (4-1) wins they secure the #1 seed and the regular season title, however if Team 3 (3-2) wins by 4 points or more, they will take the #1 seed and league title via the tie breaker. "There ain't no way we losing this game, said guard Alex Krows.

The league is investigating the allegations that both teams are resting their starters in preparation for the playoffs. Both teams will be shorthanded with Team 3 sitting Dave Neff, Vance Catlin and possibly Jake Vernon, while Team 4 will be without Chris Evans and Brian Brown. When asked to comment, the league commissioner had this to say:

"There will be a thorough investigation as to why these players will miss the game tomorrow. We cannot have teams resting players when they are perfectly healthy. To date, we have not had any paying fans, but what if by some miracle we had someone come to the game tomorrow with their family expecting to see Jake Vernon build a house and they find out he is not playing? That is just not good for the league."

Team 1 believes this is an attempt to avoid a first round match up with them.
"Whoever wins is actually the loser, because that means they have to play us in the first round", said Henry Kreuteziner.
