Indianapolis – After a two week break due the to the Pacers NBA playoffs, PFOL resumed it’s playoffs and crowned a new champion. Team 1 came into the Finals with the best record in the league and faced the 3rd seeded Team 4.
Team 1 jumped out to an early 9-2 lead behind the hot shooting of Jason Rost. Team 4 settled down and went on a 17-4 run and went into halftime with a 9 point lead. In the second half, Team 4 showed no signs of letting up as they cruised to an 84-61 victory.

This is Vance Catlin’s third PFOL Championship and Richie Smith’s second. For all of the other players on Team 4 this is their first championship.
“It feels so good to finally get a ring. Everyone was lumping me in the same category with Edmound Elzy – good player but has never won a ring. Now I am finally off that list”, said Alan Mowrey. “I hope that we can all play together next season. I would love to see if we can repeat. I’m going to do everything in my power to see that this team stays together”.

McAlister's Deli Recap - Playoffs Round 1
Team 4 - 45 Team 2 - 42
Indianapolis - Team 4 learned that they would be playing their playoff game without their All-Star guard Richie Smith only minutes before tip off. Team 4 playing with a full squad for only the 2nd time all season looked confident as they knew Team 4 would miss the shooting and overall leadership Smith brought.
Team 4 came out shooting and jumped out to an early 10-2 lead; a lead that they would never relinquish.
Alan Mowrey got Team 4 off to the fast start with 2 early three pointers. They extended their lead to 11 by halftime. Edmound Elzy did everything he could to help his team claw back into the game. Down by 7 with 1:21 left to play he connected on a driving layup and then immediately stole the ball off the inbounds pass and scored again to cut the lead to just 3 with just over a minute to play.
After a few missed free throws by both teams, Team 2 found themselves down 3 with 8 seconds left. The ball found it's way back out to Elzy who had a game-tying 3 rattle in and out as time expired. "I had a clean look at the shot, I even yelled, 'OVERTIME!' while the ball was in the air.
"I couldn't believe the shot didn't go in", said Elzy.
"I knew the shot was off the second I saw him shoot it. I have seen him miss that shot too many times in my career. There is a reason he is called the Tracy McGrady of PFOL", said Jason McGuinness.
Team 4 was lead by Alan Mowrey who finished with 22 points including a couple of momentum changing 3's. Elzy lead Team 2 with 26 points and 11 rebounds.
Team 4 advances to the finals to face John Griffin and Team 1. Game 1 is on Friday April 8th.
