McAlister's Deli Game Summary - Week 6
Baston Jacks 50
Forecasted Showers 48
Forecasted Showers missed 3 free throws in the last 50 seconds that setup a game winning shot by Jason McGuinness with 4.1 seconds left that gave Baston Jacks a 50-48 win.
Baston Jacks originally wanted to get the ball in the post to Alan Mowrey but swung the ball along the perimeter before the ball finally landed in McGuinness' hands. He didn't hesitate and drained the 17 foot jump shot to give Baston Jacks the lead.
Baston Jacks improves to 4-2 and are tied for the best record in the league with 3-Peat. Forecasted Showers drop to 1-5 on the season and learned after the game that they are losing Cameron Monnier for the season.
Edmound Elzy lead all scorers with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Eric Flatt missed the game, as he chose to go to lunch over playing with his team. "This is what happens when you have a bad record. People stop caring - Flatt would rather go eat turkey than try to get us a win", said Elzy.
Baston Jacks were lead by Alan Mowrey with 19 points and Jason McGuinness 13. Pat Sullivan was held to career low 6 points but managed to grab 18 rebounds and dish out 10 assists.
Patriot League Bombers 62

Despite a horrible shooting by John Griffin in the first half, the Patriot League Bomber found their shooting touch in the second half and torched 3 Peat 62-45. Griffin was 0-10 from 3-point range but immediately found his range in the 2nd half. He ended up with a game high 33 points and 17 rebounds.
3 Peat clearly missed the presence of Jake Vernon who is out for 3-6 weeks with a slight fracture of a bone in his foot. 3 Peat also lost Zach Wogtech during the game to injury and they later learned that he will miss the entire season with a Grade 3 ankle sprain.
3-Peat drops to 4-2 and into a tie with Baston Jacks for the best record in the league. PLB improves to 3-3.
The next games are scheduled for Monday as Baston Jacks take on PLB, and 3-Peat take on Forecasted Showers.

Patriot League Bombers 62
Forecasted Showers got their first win of the season 63-62 over the Patriot League Bombers and avoided becoming the first team in PFOL history to start the season 0-5. Forecasted Showers found themselves down by more than 15 points early in the 2nd half before they started chipping away at the lead. The Patriot League Bombers who only had 5 players for the second week in a row were visibly fatigued as the game came down to the wire. “We just couldn’t make shots at the end of the game, not having any subs really hurt us”, said Zach Bonvillian. Edmound Elzy scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Eric Flatt chipped in 18 points and 11 rebounds.
John Griffin scored a game high 30 points but failed to convert on several 3 pointers in the last minute of the game. This is third loss in the row for the Patriot League Bombers who will look to mix things up next week. “I think I am going to have to shoot more if we plan on winning any more games this year” said Griffin. 3 Peat played without Thorpe Miller, Dave Neff and Brian Stutzman.

Baston Jacks handed 3-Peat their first loss of the season on Tuesday with a 62-59 win. In a game that saw a lot of fouls and scuffles, Baston Jacks rode a 22 point, 18 rebound performance by Pat Sullivan to their 3rd straight win of the season.
“It was an ugly game, lots of bad fouls being called on both teams and some people lost their temper, but we fought through it all and came out with a victory”, said Sullivan. 3Peat’s Richie Smith led all scorers with 23 points including five three pointers. 3-Peat hit twelve 3 pointers in total. Jake Vernon hit five 3 pointers again this week - that is the 3rd straight game in which Vernon has hit five 3 pointers, setting a new PFOL record. Vernon also set the record for most 3 point field goal attempts in a 3 game span (58). Vernon left the game with an ankle sprain and is questionable for Thursday’s game.
Troy Brokl scored 19 points and hit four 3 pointers and Alan Mowrey chipped in 14 points in the paint for a surging Baston Jacks team. “I feel we are one of the best teams in the league and even without Jason McGuiness today we knocked off the so called first place team, said Troy Brokl.

Baston Jacks 56
Patriot League Bombers 50
The Patriot League Bombers were the preseason favorites to win the PFOL 3 Championship but now they find themselves in the midst of a 2 game losing streak and questions surround their chemistry after Tuesday’s 56-50 loss to Baston Jacks. Baston Jacks who never trailed in the game ran out to a quick 9 point lead in the first quarter. Despite scoring 28 points, PLB star, John Griffin got very few clean looks at the basket. “Every time I touched the ball I had 2-3 guys running at me. They were determined to get me off the 3 point line today”, said Griffin.
Baston Jack got some much added production from Andrew Boehner as he knocked down all 6 shots he took and ended the day with 14 points and 7 rebounds.
John Griffin tied the game at 50-50 with 40 seconds left with an off balanced shot over Boehner. Baston Jacks immediately raced down and scored on an Alan Mowrey layup to put them up for good at 52-50. Pat Sullivan made 4 go-ahead free throws at the end of the game.
“This is a great win for us, it gets us back to 500 and we feel like we are starting to really hit our stride as a team” said, Pat Sullivan. “Oh, and by the way, John can’t guard me in the post”.

3-Peat continued to prove they are the best team in the PFOL winning decisively over the winless Forecasted Showers 66-54 on Tuesday. Four players scored in double figures for 3-Peat. They also hit a PFOL record ten 3-pointers in the game. Forecasted Showers continues to look for answers as they drop to 0-4 on the season. “I just wish the season was over”, said Captain Edmound Elzy. Scott Higginson suggested that the ball needs to move around more, “I averaged 7 points last year and I haven’t scored a point all season. It’s time to get mine!!”
Jake Vernon has hit 5 three pointers in his last 2 games. Vernon will be looking to break two PFOL records next week:
Record #1: First player in PFOL history to make 5 or more 3 pointers in 3 consecutive games.
Record #2: Most 3 point field goal attempts in a 3 game span. Vernon only needs four 3-point field goal attempts to break the current record of 43 (currently held also by Vernon).
